From talking to and meeting with so many people over the last few months, I have learned that finding a good mentor is so important. I have finally taken the plunge and forked over some money to get some coaching. The money that I spent is quite a lot and it makes me extremely nervous to spend this kind of money. I just feel that I need to work one on one with someone who can really bring my internet marketing game to the next level. If my new mentor can really get me to where he claims he can get me, then the cost of the mentoring is worth so much more than what I spent on it.

My first chat with him is on July 6th and I can’t wait to hear what he has to offer. I still have a sick feeling in my stomach because spending money scares me but I have a good feeling about this guy. He really could be the thing that puts me over the edge and gets my business moving in the right direction.

I did do a lot of research on the guy before making my decision. All of his past students seem to have had great success with him. All of his past students seem like they don’t have a single bad thing to say about him. I’m just anxious to get started with him and take action on his recommendations.

I just read an e-book about 30 minutes ago that completely changed the way I look at making money online and marketing. The book is called Newbies Nightmare, by Alex Jeffreys. (Click that link to go to the author’s blog).

This book literally blew my mind. The thing that is so amazing is that he is giving the book away for free. In fact, that’s the whole point of the book. Give things away for free and people will trust you and want to buy from you. You’ve got to stop seeing yourself as trying to sell a product, but instead, offer information freely, build trust among your readers and they will beg to buy whatever it is you are promoting.

The whole concept is just amazing to me. Especially in the internet marketing world where everyone is so competitive with each other. No one wants to give up their hot tip or their secret to success. Heck, if they did, people would just steal it and they would lose their competitive edge. This book is all about changing that mindset. If you can offer up information freely, share your ideas and your secrets, people will trust you, they will understand what you are about, and they will want what you have to offer in the future. It makes so much sense.

I’m even guilty on this blog of not divulging all of the details of what I’m working on because I don’t want people to steal my ideas. This blog gets 15 viewers a day at the time of writing this! Why the hell should I be worried about people stealing my ideas? If I give the ideas freely, I’d probably have a hell of a lot more than 15 people a day reading this! And a few them would probably want what I have to sell in the future. Imagine that! If I am giving away so much stuff for free, the stuff you actually have to pay for must be REALLY good!

From this point on. I am vowing that I am going to share what I’m working on. If I come up with an idea and I start testing it out, I’m going to share the journey with everyone else. It’s up to you guys if you want to try to copy me. Hell, as I’m experimenting, I don’t know any better than you do what’s going to work or not.

That’s my rant for the night. I am just on a high right now from reading that. My mind is blown and I am just on a whole new level of how I see things in the internet marketing world.

Sidenote: My one exception to sharing everything I’m trying would be if I purchase a new e-book and test the method. It wouldn’t really be fair to the writer if I freely gave the info out. I will do my best to give honest reviews, as opposed to trying to sell you on the product, as well as give you as much insight as I feel is fair on what the strategy entails.

For so long now I have avoided Twitter like the plague. So many people were jumping on board and telling me how much they enjoyed Twitter. I always thought that they were weird. Why the heck would I want to get online and see what someone just ate for breakfast? It didn’t make sense to me.

For whatever reason, I randomly decided to jump on board. Don’t ask me why. I have no idea. I signed up for Twitter, went to the Twello sight (Twitter Yellow Pages) and started hunting down people that were in to internet marketing. I started following people that had the same interest that I had in marketing and discovering some really great contacts. Once you sort through all of the spam and the occasional self-promotion, there are some really good people on there with some really good information.

I started to develop sort of a filter for the spam bots and serial over promoters and figured out how to spot the real people with real things to say. I’ve discovered some really nice blogs with some great info and some really great free tools. It is amazing.

I also realized that twitter can be an amazingly powerful tool when used correctly. You see, I don’t mind the occasional self-promotion as long as it’s coming from real people who honestly want to share something really cool. I’ve been using Twitter for what it was meant for. I comment on my daily life, finishing my education, my excitement that Lakers won, etc. I also like to let people know when I have blog posts that might interest them or when I find a really cool internet marketing tool that others might find useful.

Twitter is a way to speak to the masses. I feel almost celebrity-like every time I tweet and I know that my comment just went out to over 2,000 people. That is amazing to me. If it’s not abused Twitter can get a message out to so many people so fast. People may actually listen to that message if you’re not trying to cram products down their throat every 30 seconds.

If your intentions are good and you are honestly out to help people and share your life with people, then people will respond. People will respect your voice and want to hear what you have to say. I no longer avoid Twitter like the plague. I embrace it and I share my messages. I no longer make fun of it; I recommend it.

So a couple of days ago I told you about our first real campaign to generate income from CPA offers by advertising on Google. Tonight I have stopped that campaign. I wouldn’t call it a failure but it wasn’t necessarily a success either. All said and done, I think we lost about $6 on the whole thing. I’ll consider that a break even because we’ve lost a lot more in one campaign.

What did I learn from the whole thing? I learned that I still have a lot more to learn about PPC and CPA. When I did all of the math before we started this campaign, it seemed like a sure winner. After letting it run for two days, it didn’t seem to go anywhere. I don’t know if the niche that we picked was just no good or if our ads just didn’t grab people enough. We just need to do some more research, tweak a few things here and there, and shoot for it one more time.

I think every time we have a semi-unsuccessful campaign, it brings us one step closer to having that amazing break out campaign. We learn more dos and don’ts every time.

I think I’ve aligned myself with a good mentor now as well. I’ve been talking to some great people who know my whole story and want to work one on one with me to help me turn some of my campaigns in to very successful campaigns. I can’t wait to start working with this guy.

I’ll let you know how that goes.

It’s really late right now so forgive me if it looks like I was half asleep when I typed this. Yesterday, Joe and I did our first real experiment with PPC to CPA. We have played with PPC in the past but I don’t count it because we didn’t track anything, we didn’t know what we were doing and we had a coupon code for $50 worth of free Adwords ads that they gave us when we signed up for hosting through PowWeb. This time it was our own money, we had a game plan and we had a solid strategy.

For anyone who’s reading this that has no idea what the heck I’m talking about right now, I will explain a little. PPC to CPA are acronyms for Pay-Per-Click to Cost-Per-Action. The idea behind the whole thing is that you create an ad on Google, Google charges you a certain amount per click, and we turn around and promote an offer that pays us every time someone signs up. For example, we buy an ad on Google, select the keywords that will cause that ad to pop up when people do a search, and then Google charges us $0.50 every time someone clicks on our ad. Our ad directs the person who clicked on it to an offer that pays us $4.00 every time they fill out a form. So now you’re probably thinking, “WOW, that’s amazing! You can spend $0.50 and they’ll pay you $4.00??!!? You’re going to be rich!”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite work that way.

I’m not going to give away what niche we were marketing in or what keywords we were using today. We are still running this campaign because we haven’t quite figured out what kind of profit potential it holds yet. Once we’ve decided that it’s not profitable enough, then I’ll give you more details. At that point, I won’t care if you copy it.

The campaign we did today was for an ad we found on the Neverblue network. It actually paid out $4.00 every time we managed to get someone to sign up. We went in to Google, picked out all the relevant keywords, and then created an ad for each individual keyword. We then created a landing page where we would send people, the landing page would hype the offer a little bit and then pass them along to the actual sign up page. We put in a max bid of about $0.50 per click and we let it go. Unfortunately, nothing happened. $0.50 per click wasn’t a high enough bid for the keywords we were using. Our competition was outbidding us. I upped our bid to $1.00 and we finally started to see people click through.

On our very first click of the day, we got a conversion. We thought we were going to kick butt! We had a 100% conversion ratio. Then a few more clicks rolled in but no conversions. People were clicking on the ad, looking at the form, and deciding that they didn’t want to fill it out. About an hour in to the campaign we got our second conversion. Things were looking up again. Unfortunately, we had 10 clicks by this point and only 2 conversions. If you’re doing the math, that basically meant we spent $10 to make $8. We were at a $2 loss. From that point on, the rest of the day was dead. We saw no more real action. I guess sometimes PPC is very bazaar. In an hour period, we received 10 clicks and 2 conversions and then in the following 8 hours we received barely any action at all.

For any PPC experts out there that are reading this; we did do a ton of keyword research as well. I’m going to save that for another day. Far too in depth for me discuss at 1:00 am.

I’m letting my campaign run overnight. I’ll fill in the details in the morning.

The other day I talked about the Warrior Forum and what a great resource it is. People go on there and talk about their successes and their failures. It is a great place to learn internet marketing from the people who have actually done it. Today I found another amazing resource. Unfortunately this one isn’t free but it is well worth the money.

MoreMoney365 is a membership site that helps you make money on the Internet using different online marketing strategies. If you follow all instructions carefully and implement the techniques revealed by MoreMoney365 successfully, you can make a 5 to 6 figure
income each month. Let us take a look what MoreMoney365 has to offer.

You need to become a member of the MoreMoney365 program by visiting their website for a monthly subscription of $27.00. It also comes with a free 2-week trial period which you can cancel any time. Once you become a member, it is going to teach you how to make money using Clickbank, Google AdSense program, affiliate marketing, article marketing and so on an so forth. You will also learn different ways of getting free traffic, increasing your mailing lists and other Internet marketing techniques. Internet marketers who have made millions on the Internet share their secret money making techniques on MoreMoney365.

I am a visual learner. I have purchased a ton of ebooks trying to learn how to make a successful career out of internet marketing. The problem with ebooks is that you can read through them and if you really don’t understand what they are talking about or you get lost somewhere, you’ll never figure out the program. That thing that I really like about MoreMoney365 is that it offers tons of video tutorials. You can actually watch the professionals demonstrate exactly what they do and how they do it. These visual walk-thrus alone make this service worth the money and there are more and more being added all the time.

Internet marketing is a vast field and it may take you years to know the ins and outs of making money over Internet. MoreMoney365 provides you the necessary expertise to tap this lucrative market and cash in on all opportunities available in it. Even an absolute novice to Internet marketing can make a lot of money with it after going through this program. MoreMoney365 offers easy-to-understand, online videos and multimedia sessions in order to give lessons. The best thing is perhaps the 2-week free trial that you can take advantage of if you are too skeptical about the product and want to try it first.

Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think…

For those of you who don’t know what a CPA network is; CPA stands for Cost-Per-Action. It’s the latest marketing methods that online marketers are using these days. Instead of marketers getting paid every time someone clicks on an ad or every time a sale is made, they get paid when an action is taken. This action can be as simple as entering an e-mail address or zip code to filling out a 10 page survey. The easier it is for the customer, the less the payout is from the CPA company.

From reading forums, other blogs, e-mails, tweets, etc, it has come to my attention that there are a lot of people out there that are having all sorts of trouble getting accepted in to CPA networks. I thought this was really weird because I had absolutely no problem at all getting accepted in to every network that I applied to. I found a plan that I had read somewhere else, I tweaked it a little, and it worked for me perfectly. If you don’t follow my plan, you may still get accepted in to the networks but this is almost 100% full proof. The networks basically want to see that you are not some sort of scammer who is going to throw up a quick site, get all their friends to enter their e-mail address, collect the commissions and then move on. (This doesn’t work by the way. CPA networks can spot these people a mile away. The conversion rates are too good and they stand out like a sore thumb.)

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Register a domain name. I recommend a “.com” domain name. These are the most professional looking. If you are going to push auto loan CPA offers, you can register something like www.thebestautoloan.com. I always register my domains through GoDaddy. If you use the coupon code “OYH3″, you’ll get your domain name for a year for $6.99.

2. Get a webhost. I suppose you can probably host your website on a free server like blogger, or Wordpress but I highly recommend that you register for a paid host. It will look more professional and you will have so much more flexability in the future. My favorite host is called PowWeb. For the first year, you will get your hosting for $3.88 per month. It has unlimited webspace and unlimited bandwidth and it will run Wordpress, Forums, or any other type content management that you’d want it to.

3. Create a simple website. My recommendation is that you set up a simple blog. Log in to your host, find the fantastico button and install Wordpress on your server. Once you have Wordpress installed, log in to your blog’s admin section and type a couple of quick posts about who you are and what you intend to write about or promote in the future. The site doesn’t have to be anything crazy. I have heard that a lot of the networks don’t even visit the site. They just want to see that you have one.

4. Get an e-mail address that is linked to your domain name. You can set this up through GoDaddy. If your site is thebestautoloan.com, you would want an e-mail address that is something like matt@thebestautoloan.com. Just set it up so it forwards to whatever e-mail address you use now. This just shows the networks how professional you are. Having a Gmail, or Hotmail type address looks really cheesy to them. They won’t take your business seriously.

5. Make sure that your phone number has a professional sounding voicemail if you aren’t going to answer it right away. I set up a Skype phone number so that I can have a special voicemail just for my internet marketing business. My voicemail says something like, “Hi, you’ve reached Matt from MBT Media, your call is very important to me. Please leave me a message and I will call you back as soon as I can. Thanks”. This is huge!! The CPA networks WILL call you. If you miss their call, they will get your voicemail and they will know that you are a professional.

6. Call them back! This is my final step. When they call your phone number, either answer it when they call or call them back as soon as you can. This is imperative. You will not get accepted in to CPA networks without speaking with an affiliate manager at the network. I can not stress this enough! When they ask you how you will be promoting offers; tell them the truth. I told them that I plan to promote offers on my blog, through banner ads, and linking throughout the content. I also told them that I intend to experiment with e-mail marketing and pay-per-click marketing. That way there are no surprises when they see me sending traffic via these methods.

That’s it. If you follow those steps, you should have absolutely no problem getting accepted in to a CPA network.

Here is a list of my favorite CPA Networks:

NeverBlue
Hydra
MaxBounty
Clickbooth

Good luck. It really is easier than you would imagine. If you have any more questions about my technique, ask them in the comments section below.

About two weeks ago I quit my day job. I just didn’t see eye to eye with my employer. I wasn’t making enough yet through my online businesses to cover what I made at my day job either. I still don’t make what I made there. I am getting closer and closer every day though. I would say that within the next two weeks or so I will get to the point where I am happy with my online income. I have learned a few tips and tricks over the past couple of weeks that have really boosted my progress with my online business goals. You may think that my tips are some sort of big affiliate marketing secret that involves sneeky tricks to get people to purchase products that I push but they really aren’t. The tricks that I have learned that have boosted my progress the most involve rethinking how I look at my business and just flat out getting more organized.

What do I mean by rethinking how I look at business? I no longer look at affiliate marketing as a way to make money. I have to look at it as a way of providing a service to people. Basically, the trick is to look for something that people need and try to fill that need. For example, instead of trying to plaster banner ads all over all of my blogs, I am focusing my time on writing articles to teach people how to do things. Why focus on plastering banners everywhere if you are not providing something that people want in order to get them to your site. Provide the content that helps people and generates traffic and the people will trust you and value you recommendations more.

What I meant by getting organized is that I have better structured my days. Since I am focusing on this full time now, it is hard to keep focused. The biggest tip that I can offer to stay focused is to create a list. Write down all of the tasks that you intend to complete during the day and just start working down the list. My biggest struggle has been too much research. I spend time in the forums and downloading ebooks and not enough time taking the actions that move my business forward. I get overwhelmed with information when I really know what I need to be doing. I neeed to be writing, and I need to be promoting. Those are the tasks that I see a return from. I do, however, set aside some time do some research. I love learning about different marketing techniques. I add about 1 hour of my day to focus on research and I put it on my list. Once I’ve used that hour, I check it off my list and I move on.

If you want to create a business out of online marketing, the two biggest tricks that I can possibly teach are to rethink and to get organized.

I have found a new favorite place on the internet. It is called the Warrior Forum. It is basically a forum where internet marketers get together and bounce ideas off of each other and learn new techniques to make money on the internet. I’ve spent so much money for ebooks and tutorials to really understand how internet marketing works and now I am discovering that most of the information that I purchased, I could have found for free.

I just started posting over there and I want to become an active member. It seems like there are so many great people there and someone could really make some good contacts. You can definitely learn a lot. If you are interested in internet marketing in any way, I highly recommend the Warrior Forum.

Joe and I created a brand new blog for the sole purpose of testing some SEO techniques that we have recently learned. The site is all about lawn care. To make things even more specific, we have narrowed in on organic lawn care. I know this topic sounds very obscure, however, this is what niche marketing is all about. The idea is to pick a very obscure topic that is not hugely popular and then take that niche topic and completely own it. There are a lot of people on the Internet looking in to lawn care. Coming in to the summer time, lawns start to turn brown or get over taken by pests. More and more people will start searching for this topic. Trends in this day and age tend to be focusing more and more on organic and environmentally friendly topics. Inevitably, people will search for organic lawn care. When they do, guess who they are going to find. That’s right! Our niche blog.

This blog in particular is being created for the sole purpose of generating adsense revenue. There are not many affiliates out there pushing organic lawn products online. There are, however, many companies advertising on adsense that would love to have the traffic generated through the topic of lawn care.

We have used several Wordpress plugins, such as All-In-One-SEO, and the Google Sitemap Generator, to ensure that Google and the other search engines find our site. Once on our site, the ads are optimized to prevent ad blindness from the readers. The ads are right in the posts to ensure that no reader can completely ignore them.

Curious about our new lawn care site? Check out the links on the right of this page. I’m sure you can guess which one it is.

Got any tips on SEO or generating revenue through Adsense? Please feel free to share them!
